Derek Vannice

Derek Vannice is currently the Vice President of Operations for CN Utility Consulting. Derek manages all operations for one of the fastest growing utility consulting companies in North America. Previously, Derek was the Director of Certification for the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and the Executive Director of the Utility Arborist Association (UAA).  During his 18 years at ISA and UAA, Derek facilitated the growth of ISA Certification from its inception to a program with 5 separate credentials and 27,000 credential holders on 6 continents. The ISA program is one of only 30 Certification programs in North America to be ISO 17024 accredited. Under his leadership, the UAA grew from 400 members to over 2,500 members. The UAA is now considered as the primary resource for Utility Vegetation Management. Derek has served as an industry expert at both the State and Federal Regulatory level. He has provided numerous presentations around the world on topics from leadership to Integrated Vegetation Management.


In addition to his work in the utility industry, Derek is also a Certified True Colors facilitator and has served as a facilitator in leadership, communications and strategic planning working with utility companies, contractors and non-profits. Prior to joining ISA, Derek worked 10 years in Utility Vegetation Management for Various Utility Companies in Indiana.


Mr. Vannice has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Forestry from Purdue University and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Ball State Univeristy. He is a Past President of the ISA Indiana Chapter and has received the Meritorious Service Award from the Indiana Chapter, the ISA Award of Achievement, the UAA Presidents Award, the ISA Illinois Chapter Service Award and ISA Southern Chapter Honorary Membership for his work and contributions to the industry.
