Principal Land Consultant with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E)


Craig Kelly is a Principal Land Consultant with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), an energy provider in California. Craig has 25 years in the utility vegetation management industry, working both in PG&E’s Electric VM program and the Gas Transmission VM Program (GTVM).  In 2016 Craig led the charge in helping PG&E’s GTVM Program to become the first ever pipeline owner/operator to be accredited and recognized by the Right of Way Stewardship Council as a founding utility.


Previous to Craig’s lengthy UVM career, he focused on a degree in Natural Resource Management with a concentration in Chaparral and Fire Management at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.  Following his 4 years at Cal Poly Craig worked as a wildland fire fighter for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Craig is a Past President of the Utility Arborist Association and during his tenure on the UAA board he helped the organization grow from 2,300 members to nearly 5,000.  With the significant increase in membership Craig also assisted the organization in becoming more of an autonomous professional affiliate to the International Society of Arboriculture in 2017. Additionally, during his time on the UAA board Craig witnessed significant improvements as the organization went through a re-branding phase that included; the development of a Mission and Vision Statements and establishing safety as it’s “Core Value,” revision of the UAA logo, production of a safety video targeted towards tree workers in the tree care industry, and was part of a core team made up of UAA and Arbor Day Foundation participants to bring back Trees and Utilities Conference in 2017.
